Detailed view of the treasure chest on the EMBRACE ME. Power of diamonds bracelet by Wellendorff

Hello, it's lovely to meet you!

May I introduce myself? I am probably the smallest – and yet most precious – treasure chest in the world. Crafted from 18-karat gold, I wear a sparkling, flawless diamond on my head. Inside I hide a very special treasure – a personal and powerful message that belongs only to the wearer.

The real highlight

Together with the flexible Wellendorff rope, I form the Wellendorff EMBRACE ME. Power of Solitaire Power Bracelet. Three of the new Power bracelets are finished with a little treasure chest like mine.

But first, let me start from the beginning, of course! I'm happy to admit that ... when you look at the Wellendorff Power bracelets and put them on for the first time, the diamond shines much brighter than everything around it, the delicate, flexible gold rope sits carefully against the wrist, and the Diamond-W promises perfection and meticulous craftsmanship down to the smallest detail. And yet ... you will only discover the real highlight of the solitaire version if you look very closely. The real highlight ... is ME. Once people discover me, it really gets my heart racing. I measure just a little over 5 millimetres in height, and yet I have one of the most important tasks of all. I look after what is close to my wearer's heart: feelings, memories, and messages that give them a burst of energy and should never fade. So, I look after it very carefully, and when the moment comes when my wearer needs a little boost or a reminder about what really matters ... I give them a smile and show them that true strength is often hidden in the smallest of places.

A journey through the manufactory

My story begins in the jewellery manufactory in Pforzheim. Here, I travel from station to station, and from expert to expert. Each person who shapes me and the bracelet brings with them years of experience, patience, and dedication. My creation seems to be quite elaborate ... and it's a great little adventure for me! Would you like to come with me?

It all starts with gold, or more precisely, with the alloy that serves as the foundation of the piece. Did you know that Wellendorff produces its very own alloy? In fact, Wellendorff "over-alloys". But what does that mean? I asked myself the same question for a long time... Then, one of the goldsmiths patiently explained to me that 750 out of 1000 parts of classic 18-karat gold are made of pure fine gold. The remaining 250 parts are made up of other precious metals such as silver and copper, whereby a higher proportion of copper, for example, provides the particularly warm gold tone that makes Wellendorff so special. And now comes the small, but wonderful secret: although 750 pieces of gold would be enough, the goldsmiths at Wellendorff add two extra pieces of fine gold. So, the Wellendorff alloy consists of 752 parts of pure gold for every 1000 parts. I'm really lucky, because that makes me even more valuable!

Flexible gold

In order to give the gold its flexible properties at the next stage of the journey, the Wellendorff goldsmiths had to perform a real miracle and push the boundaries of physics. This is because gold is hard by nature and is, in fact, anything but flexible. When gold is thermally treated, it normally either becomes hard and breaks, or it becomes soft and can no longer be returned to its original shape. So, neither of these options is suitable when creating a bracelet that keeps its shape even with daily wear. The solution is a closely guarded secret that the goldsmiths themselves refused to reveal to me! The goldsmiths spent a long 17 years developing and researching a solution, during which they had to demonstrate a great deal of patience, work with precision and show a spirit of innovation. But, if you ask me, every single year that it took to get to this point has been worthwhile. Thanks to the flexible gold, putting on and taking off the bracelets is so easy and uncomplicated that I can't imagine doing it any other way.

Detailed view of the setting of the treasure chest on the Wellendorff bracelet EMBRACE ME.

Invisible precision: A setting as sophisticated as clockwork, with concealed technology for
diamonds, engravings and silken ropes.

In the spotlight

The time has finally come. I get to decorate the end of the flexible rope ... my big moment has arrived. Now that everything is perfectly prepared, I will be crowned. Crowned with a flawless 0.25-carat solitaire diamond, so sparkling and radiant that it almost takes my breath away. The gem setter leans over me, and I hold my breath. Oh no, that tickles! But I have to keep very still so nothing can go wrong! So, I stay still and watch the setter at work. As every diamond is unique by nature, he creates a completely bespoke diamond setting that holds the stone securely in place, yet only on two sides. Fortunately, the gem-setters at Wellendorff have been doing this for years and know exactly what they are doing. Once set, the diamond remains firmly in place and adorns my head like a crown. I feel like a queen! Thanks to the open frame, the light shines on my crown, creating a spectacular firework display! Wow, look how beautifully the stone sparkles!

The treasure chest

And while my crown glitters and sparkles, what really defines me lies hidden inside. I have a simple design, a soft, rounded surface and, on one side, a heart-shaped window made of transparent cold enamel. Take a closer look: inside lies an engraved plate made of 18-karat gold that carries a very personal Power message from the wearer. More than just words, it's a message from the heart that I'll look after forever. To ensure that the Power message is clearly visible and at the same time safely concealed, the manufactory's cold enamel artists have come up with something very special: a cold enamel that appears as though it were floating! How does it work? I watch carefully as the cold enamel artist applies a special separating agent to a small tool plate. "This ensures that the cold enamel doesn't stick when you apply it", they explain. Preventing it from just lying there, it helps it to "float"! As soon as the cold enamel has dried, the goldsmith can remove the tool plate and replace it with an 18-karat gold engraving plate. The result is a coloured window in the shape of a heart, through which the wearer can take a look inside me to find her personal message that gives her power. The "floating" cold enamel is firmly anchored to the inside and outside of the frame so that it remains securely in place at all times.

Secrets made of gold

I carefully look down at myself and discover that I have been adorned in a delicate dress made of pink cold enamel. My engraving plate shimmers from underneath, and a single word appears on it very clearly, as if enlarged through a magnifying glass: "Love". My heart beats faster, and feelings of excitement flourish as I have been entrusted with the most precious treasure of all: a feeling, a promise, a memory that I can keep forever. And, in this moment, I am more than a small chest of gold. I am a powerful source of energy. I capture what counts – moments of love, happiness, and success – and remind my wearer of them for a lifetime. A tiny little gold screw with a thread measuring just 1 mm thick ensures I remain secure. The screw clicks quietly into place, and I know: nothing bad can happen now.

What jewellery can do

And now, pause for a moment and think: is there a person, a feeling, or a place that you hold so close to your heart, you'd want to keep it with you forever? What would you keep in your treasure chest? In the end, it's about much more than just a piece of jewellery. It's about what remains.
